Getting a wallet

About ten minutes, once. After this you can pay into escrow, and your money sits in a public contract instead of in our hands.

Why you need one at all

Escrow works by making you press a button on a contract — one to approve the exact amount, one to pay it in. A Binance, Bybit, KuCoin or Bitget exchange account cannot press that button. It can do exactly one thing with your USDC: send it to an address. There is no setting that changes this; it is what an exchange account is. So if you want your money held by code rather than by us, you need a wallet of your own.

If you would rather not set one up, that is a perfectly reasonable choice, and you do not have to. Direct payment works straight from an exchange and our 24-hour guarantee still covers it — it is just our word rather than code. Both ways are compared here.

The whole reason this page exists. An exchange can send money to an address. Escrow needs something an exchange will not do.

The setup, start to finish

  1. Install a wallet

    Trust Wallet is the usual choice on a phone; MetaMask is fine too. Get it from your phone's own app store and nowhere else — search results and links in chat messages are a well-known way people lose everything. Both are free, and neither one holds your money: they hold your keys, on your phone.

  2. Write the seed phrase down on paper

    When you create the wallet it shows you 12 words. Those words are the wallet. Anyone who reads them can empty it from the other side of the world, and if you lose them nobody on earth can get your money back — not the app, not us.

    Write the twelve words on paper, and nowhere else A sheet of paper with handwritten words is marked as the right place.     • Nobody legitimate ever needs it — not support, not an exchange, not a wallet app.
    • Anyone who asks for it, in any wording, for any reason, is stealing from you.
    • That includes an account using our name. Check you are on t.me/ProvisioHQ, and even then: we will never ask.
  3. Copy your BNB Smart Chain address

    In the wallet, find BNB Smart Chain (Trust Wallet may call it BNB Smart Chain BEP20) and tap Receive. You get an address starting 0x, 42 characters long. Use the copy button — never type it out.

    The same 0x address works for both BNB and USDC on this chain, so there is only one to keep track of.

    Send that address to support before you withdraw anything. We will make the escrow order out to it, and the contract will then only accept payment from that exact wallet — which is also what stops anyone else paying, or being paid, in your place.
  4. Withdraw your USDC, on BNB Smart Chain

    In the exchange, choose Withdraw, pick USDC, paste your address, and then — the part that matters — set the network to BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20). Some exchanges write it as BSC or BEP20. It is the same thing.

    Coin and network are two separate choices, and the exchange will not warn you if the second one is wrong.
    The network is the one mistake with no undo. USDC sent over Ethereum, Tron, Polygon, Solana or anything other than BNB Smart Chain does not arrive late — it does not arrive at all, and no one can retrieve it. Not us, not the exchange, not the wallet. Send a small test amount first if you are at all unsure. Everyone who has done this once does it forever after.
  5. You will also need a few cents of BNB

    Every action on BNB Smart Chain costs a tiny network fee, paid in BNB. USDC cannot pay it. The two steps of an escrow payment together cost around half a cent — but with zero BNB in the wallet you cannot even start, and this is the single most common thing that stops a payment.

    Ask us and we will send it to you, free. Message support with your address and we send enough BNB to cover it, usually within a minute. We do not charge for it and we do not ask for anything back — it costs us a fraction of a cent and it saves you a whole extra withdrawal.

    Ask for gas on Telegram

    Buying it yourself instead is fine too — withdraw a dollar of BNB to the same address, on the same BNB Smart Chain network. A dollar lasts a very long time.
  6. Open the pay link inside the wallet's own browser

    Support sends you a link like provisiohq.com/pay?order=…. Opening it in Chrome or Safari on a phone will not work: a normal browser tab cannot reach your wallet. Trust Wallet has a browser built in — the compass icon along the bottom. Paste the link there and the page will find your wallet straight away.

    In Trust Wallet the browser is the compass along the bottom. MetaMask has the same thing under its menu.
    On a desktop with MetaMask installed, an ordinary browser tab works fine. It is only phones where the link has to go inside the wallet app.

Is what I already have a wallet?

One question sorts it: when you set it up, did it make you write down a seed phrase? If yes, it is a wallet and it will work. If you just signed up with an email address and a password, it is an exchange account.

Cannot pay escrow Binance, Bybit, KuCoin and Bitget exchange accounts — they can only send a plain transfer, so use direct payment instead. Tonkeeper, or any TON wallet — a different blockchain entirely; USDC sent from one will not arrive.
